Dotmatics Introduces Spaces, a Web-based Scientific Teamboard Application

Spaces allows scientific teams across multiple locations and throughout different companies to collaborate easily and efficiently

Bishops Stortford, England– May 10, 2016 - Dotmatics, a leading provider of scientific informatics solutions and services, today announced Spaces, a web-based, scientific teamboard addition to its suite of applications. Spaces enhances communication within scientific research teams often located in multiple locations and/or companies.

Spaces provides unique ways of looking at research data compared to the traditional table or form-based views. Using proven techniques from web-based collaboration tools, Spaces allows scientists to collaborate together on existing project data and on the design and prioritization of new or proposed molecules, or biologics as a project progresses.

Available as cloud-based or on premise, Spaces is an ideal way for scientists across the globe to communicate and work together on project data in real-time. Spaces inherits the project security of Browser, ensuring that data and access is controlled.

“Successful scientific research requires a high level of team interaction, but this has become difficult to achieve in today’s distributed environments,” said Stephen Gallagher, CEO Dotmatics. “Spaces provides a highly flexible set of interactive scientific teamboards that facilitate timely decision making, real-time communication on scientific data, and results between all members of a project team wherever they are in the world.”

Spaces enables scientists to create and organize cards that show items of interest related to their project, creating a teamboard, which can be shared with others who can add or edit existing items, or share comments. The cards types within Spaces include molecules, scientific images, recent chemical/biological registrations, project documents and status feeds, interactive molecule design widgets, recent cascade requests, inventory additions, chat, and generic windows.

Benefits of Spaces for researchers include:

  1. Scientific Data – Data used within a project includes scientific data types such as molecules, sequences and reactions. These data types are recognizable by Spaces because the teamboards are accessible through the Dotmatics Browser product.
  2. Simple real-time data access – Data fed into the teamboards from the browser product in real-time – ensure the project status dashboard is always up to date with the very latest registration, assay and experiment data that is located with the databases.
  3. Enhanced project communication – Chat streams can be attached to the space or to individual cards allowing all members to comment and respond about the scientific objects within the space.
  4. Real-time collaboration – Members logged into teamboard simultaneously can see real-time additions and changes. By using the interactive design card, they can even collaborate to build a new molecule and explore its predicted properties.

Current customers of Dotmatics Browser will have access to Spaces as part of their existing license. A short services engagement for configuration and training is available.

A video of Spaces can be found here. A free Spaces introductory webinar will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 8:00 am Pacific Time.  Register here.
